Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1

Grid-pattern deep cleaning and a bagless dock — strong, slightly noisy value.

The RobotVacMop verdict
Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1

Shark's grid-pattern cleaning and bagless dock make the Matrix Plus a strong, ongoing-cost-free pick — if you can live with a clunky app and a very loud empty cycle.

01Design & dock

Shark's pitch is the bagless dock: debris drops into a clear bin you tip into the trash, filtered by a real HEPA stack, with zero recurring bag costs. It works exactly as advertised — at roughly the volume of a hair dryer pressed to your ear for ten seconds. The robot itself is a tidy LiDAR-turret puck with a self-cleaning bristle roll.

02Vacuuming performance

Standard runs are solid (91% hard floor, 84% carpet in our lanes), but Matrix mode is the reason to buy: the robot re-cleans a zone in an overlapping grid, and in our high-traffic-rug test that second axis lifted carpet pickup to 90% — the best sub-$500 carpet score we recorded. Hair handling is nearly tangle-free thanks to the self-cleaning comb.

03Navigation & app

LiDAR navigation is competent and methodical, though it occasionally re-explored areas it had already mapped, costing runtime. The SharkClean app is the weak link: room edits take more taps than they should, and twice during a month of testing the map needed a re-sync. Scheduling, no-go zones, and zone cleans all work — just less gracefully than Roborock or iRobot.

04Who should buy it

Pick the Matrix Plus if recurring bag costs annoy you on principle and your home has rugs that need real agitation. Skip it if your robot will run while you're home — the dock's empty cycle will make you flinch every time.
